We believe that dental health is an integral part of your overall general health. Based on that ideal, we consider many aspects of a person’s well being.
Oral health is dependent on diet, exercise, personal health potential, as well, as the actual care of your mouth and teeth. Many people today are concerned with how their mouth and teeth look, their smile, their breath and the health of the tissues in and around the mouth. We consider all of this when we evaluate new and continuing patients in our practice.
We believe that the patient is in ultimate control of his dental health. There must be a partnership between the patient and his/her dentist and dental health care team in order to maintain the highest level of health possible for our patients.
The patient is responsible for the day-to-day care and maintenance of his oral health, and for reporting problems to his dentist. The patient is also ultimately responsible for following the dentist/dental team’s recommendations, which the patient has accepted after consultation with the dentist.
The dentist/dental team is responsible for examining, monitoring and providing professional advise and dental treatment and follow-up for diagnosed dental conditions.
Remember: Each person’s optimal health potential is different from another person’s. This optimum is also dependent on genetics and environment, and often may not be changed without dental treatment intervention of some kind. If both parties actively and effectively participate in the patients dental care, the patient will enjoy the optimum dental health which he/she can expect as an individual.
